Most writers have a “niche” or subject specialty. My niche is the human experience — in all its forms.
A beloved editor I worked with told me, “write about the things you want to learn and you will always have a marvelous time.” I follow that advice and find that it does indeed make for a marvelous time — for me and for my clients.
As a public relations pro and practicing journalist, I’ve written about wineries and worm farms, cosmetic surgery and paint colors, universities and antiques, golf course designers, fashion, architecture, business startups, agriculture, social events and tourism destinations.
My unique experience combines years of working with travel writers and editors to create interesting and marketable stories, writing those stories and teaching students the basics of good journalism.
At the moment, I’m working on a travel piece about glamping in the wilds of Northern New Mexico for the summer edition of Discover Taos and putting the finishing touches on a column that evaluates antiques for the readers of The Oregonian. Let me know what your freelance needs and interests are — and we’ll have a marvelous time!
